What kind of doors and windows can be called solid wood doors and windows? Is there any quality problem with the wooden door filled with honeycomb paper core? From December 1, the first national standard GB/T29498-2013 "Wood Doors and Windows" in the wood door and window industry was officially implemented. The classification of wood doors and windows has been clearly defined. Not only can the word "solid wood" not be used indiscriminately, but wood doors and windows also have the threshold of "introduction".
Solid wood and solid wood composite are defined
The first national standard in the wood door and window industry clearly defines the concepts of "solid wood", "solid wood composite" and "wood composite". GB/T29498-2013 "Wood Door and Window" stipulates that "doors and windows made of wood, integrated wood (including knuckle wood)" are "solid wood doors and windows". Doors and windows made of solid wood door and window sectors are covered with decorative veneer (veneer) or laminated veneer lumber can only be called "solid wood composite door and window". Doors and windows with various wood-based panels or wood and wood-based panels as base materials and coated or facing surfaces are "wood composite doors and windows".
In the building materials market, the reporter found that many doors and windows call themselves solid wood doors and windows. Sales staff will not take the initiative to mention "solid wood composite" and "wood composite". Some well-known brands of wood doors and windows will indicate solid wood doors and windows or solid wood composite doors and windows on product labels. "The gimmick of" solid wood "can no longer be used casually in the future." Tan Xianshun, engineer of china construction metal structure association Steel and Wood Doors and Windows Committee, said that "composite" products have become the mainstream of wood doors and windows industry. The implementation of the standards for wooden doors and windows will guide manufacturers to carry out production publicity correctly.
The default "honeycomb core" filling
Since the beginning of this year, there has been a lot of news about the use of honeycomb paper as filler in security doors and interior doors. The door and window products with "paper sandwich" make people doubt the quality of the products. However, the standard for wood doors and windows is the correct name for "honeycomb paper". In the "terms and definitions" of the standard, honeycomb paper core is explicitly mentioned and described as "a continuous honeycomb core formed by gluing, stretching and other processes of multiple pieces of paper or paperboard".
Experts from the Municipal Decorative Materials Association said that this definition means that honeycomb paper can be used as filler for doors and windows by default, but it must meet the requirements of the standard, and the overall physical properties and other indicators of wooden doors should also meet the product standards.
"The use of honeycomb paper in the door core will not lower the quality standard of the product." Hu Zhongxin, secretary-general of China Furniture Building Materials Decoration Association, pointed out earlier that the quality problem was mainly due to some enterprises' failure to use honeycomb paper according to the correct process, and some even used honeycomb paper made of domestic waste and industrial waste, resulting in adverse market impact, which led many wooden door brand enterprises to reject the use of honeycomb paper.
Most door and window brands do not know the new logo
Reporters visited several home building materials markets and found that most door and window brands did not know about the new logo for wooden doors and windows. A person in charge of a brand of wooden doors and windows in Nanjing said that although he did not know the specific content of wooden doors and windows, he welcomed the introduction of the new standard and believed that it would play a certain role in standardizing the industry's behavior. He will learn about the new standard later.
Industry sources said that the new standard has a certain impetus to the wood door and window industry, but as it is only a recommendatory standard, not a mandatory national standard, the enterprises do not attach much importance to it. It is hoped that with the passage of time, this recommendatory standard can be recognized by the market and will be further improved after undergoing market tests.
